Table Limits
Play inside your limits
Gambling is paid entertainment with a built-in loss rate. These are the limits worth setting before you play, and where to turn if it stops being fun.
Set the limits first
- Deposit limits
- A cap on how much you can pay in over a set period. Set it below the amount you would notice losing, and set it before the first deposit.
- Loss limits
- A cap on net losses over a period. Once you reach it, the account stops taking stakes until the period resets.
- Session reminders
- A message on screen after a set number of minutes, with the time played and the amount won or lost so far. Use it as the moment to stop and decide.
- Time-outs
- A short pause on the account, from a day to a few weeks. Nothing can be staked until the pause ends.
- Self-exclusion
- A block on the account for months or years. Licensed operators must honour it, and some countries run national schemes that cover every licensed site at once.
Licensed operators offer these tools in the account settings. Limits chosen while you are calm hold up better than limits chosen in the middle of a session.
Signs it has stopped being fun
- You chase losses with bigger or more frequent bets.
- You play with money meant for rent or bills.
- You hide how much you play from the people close to you.
- You feel restless or irritable when you try to stop.
- You borrow money or sell things to keep playing.
From the Field Manual
Responsible-play tools
Licensed casinos are required to offer tools that help you stay in control. Setting them up before you play, while you are calm and clear-headed, is the most effective way to keep gambling fun rather than harmful.
- +01Deposit, loss and wager limits cap how much you can put in over a day, week or month.
- +02Reality checks and session-time reminders pop up to show how long you have been playing.
- +03Time-outs pause your account for a short cool-off period; self-exclusion blocks it for months or years.
- +04Independent support services offer free, confidential help if gambling stops feeling like a choice.
House tip
Set your deposit and loss limits the day you open an account, not after a bad session. Limits chosen in advance are the ones that actually protect you. If gambling stops being fun, use a time-out or reach out to a support service.
